Just a few thoughts

No this is not an April foools joke, although my significant other and her offspring seem to revel in the act of playing practical jokes. It will be a long day I'm afraid.
OK...time for me to rant.
As most Americans know, our fellow countrymen and women are fighting for their lives in the name of Democracy in Iraq. It started approximately 4 years ago.
It seems that we went into the war a bit ill prepared. Our troops for the most part weren't properly armed, er should I say "armoured".
The ARMY or I guess the expert war pontiffs at the Pentagon are now saying that the men and women over there aren't allowed to buy their own body armour to supplement the Armys inferior stuff.
Now....we have been at the task at hand in Iraq going on 4 years...it would seem to me by NOW....that someone would have the logistical support right for the men and women. ThePentagon can't give our people over there proper protection, so they prohibit them from buying body armour to protect themselves. The Pentagon war pontiffs claim that it is inferior stuff and doesn't protect them anyway. They also say that because of the roadside attacks, they have started issuing ceramic body side armour in an effort to limit casualties. Now....this is a good thing. I just wonder what took so long? I also wonder how does a modern army from the alledged most powerful nation on earth go into a WAR, so ill prepared? It's certainly not the guys on the ground in the shooting war who did the planning, now is it. So I ask Rumsfelf and his people, how do you send people to certain death or at least serious maiming, and sleep at night? OH DAMN.....I forgot, you guys are just serving your country, and someone has to do the dirty work.
No folks this is no April fools joke, it's the real deal. Everyday we have folks over in Iraq seriously injured. They are shipped back to the United States, broken and burned. Most don't even get follow up medical attention or physical therapy. Then on top of that they are required to pay for the equipment that got lost or damaged when they got shot up.
In closing I just gotta say......What do you expect from a President that touts military service along the same line as being a Boy Scout troop leader? No wonder the war ain't going well, especially for the folks fighting it.
