The nations politics........suck!!!!

......just finished reading all the news updates on the different online news services CBS,ABC,NPR,CNN,MSNBC,TIME, NEWSWEEK(attached to MSNBC), NY TIMES, WASHINGTON POST, WALL STREET JOURNAL, ya it's been a bit slow here today.
The 25 year old teacher that had sexual relations with the 14 year old, made a plea deal, 3 years house arrest, 10 years probation. Derives no benefit from publishing her story, can't teach anymore, etc, etc, ect. Now.....I'm not trying to be a chauvanist here, but as already has been said, if this were a male who had the sexual relations with a minor female of the same age....they would have nailed his balls to a stump pushed him over back wards and sentenced him to 30 years without parole at hard labor. (Do they do hard labor in our jails anymore?)
OK, so much for that on the legal politics.
Let us move onto the WAR DEBACLE.....we have the Dems(democrates) calling for immediate widthdrawal of our troops from Iraq, we have the repubs(republicans) saying the dems are reprehensible, unpatriotic, and dishonest for making a fool hardy request of this sort. Ahem....excuse me...but ahhhh....didn't we just go through a special investigation of a senior White House Official leaking the name of a CIA undercover operative to the press some three years ago? I believe that the alledged perpetraitor of this little diddy was a repub, possibly named....LIBBY. How come this isn't considered an reprehensible, dishonest, unpatriotic act by the repubs and even some of the dems? I mean after all we are at war, and I would think that leaking the name of an undercover CIA field operative during a time of war is a bit unpatriotic to say the least. It really does amaze me that we don't hear much more about this abonimal act directed at Joe Wilson , and Valerie Plame. It is shameful, it really is.
Again I don't profess to be an expert purveyor of government policy. I'm just an ordinary guy sitting here wondering what the hell are these people thinking.
Look at the dramatic theatrics of Jean Schmidt, claiming to have recieved a phone call from an active Marine Corp. officer, she absolutely with out a doubt attacked Murtha calling him a cowrard that runs. What a shame this had to happen. I thought open dissent and debate was what the United States Congress is all about....not a forum for name calling and denigrating assertions towards ones character, which is what Jean Schmidt reduced it to by directly attacking Murtha. What a Clear and Present SHAME to have to bear witness to such incidents. I wonder what the rest of the world thinks? Do you? Would love to hear from you about this.
Happy Thanksgiving,

Chris

I buy my eggs at a gas station

Good morning world......
Well here it is the day before Thanksgiving in the year 2005. Do I have anything to be thankful for? I certainly do. I have a beautiful lady in my life who cares deeply for me and does everything in her power to make my life easier than it already is. I have my health, I have a good job with benefits. I'm not being whisked off to war by Congress, at least not yet.
I have a plethora of gas stations at which to buy egss from, yes folks you heard right here at 'Whats this world coming to'....You can buy your eggs, haircoloring, bread, birthcontrol devices, chewing gum, toothpaste, socks, string, screen repair material.....at the friggin gas station.
No wonder they want you to use the pay at the pump option when buying just gas at the gas station. They are to busy ringing up the other items I just mentioned to take time to let you pay cash for your gas....at the GAS STATION.
Now....there is another question I have....and maybe someone out there can help me with this. It's about gas station operations. HOW come when it comes to shift changes at the gas stations, you can't buy gas? In the last three months I have been at 2 different gas stations. Owned by two independant companies, in two different geographical locations. Because it was shift change....I had to wait to have the pump turned on before I could buy my gas. How come? Why is this? There were an abundant number of employees standing around looking greatly confused as the shift change took place. Couldn't one of them have turned the pump on? The first instance my girl friend went inside and asked for the pump to be turned on, as we had tried to activate it and it wouldn't activate. I think she asked if they would turn it on before I had a cornary, or something to that effect. I was extremely irritated that I couldn't buy gas at an establishment that was open, operating, and supposed to be selling gas. At least that is what the sign said in front of the place.
The second instance was at another gas station, it was very very early in the morning. This time I went inside because if you were paying in cash you had to pay in advance.( apparently the Iraqi or Middle Eastern owners don't trust us Americans to pay after we fill our tank with their gas), anyway the young woman behind the counter took my money and said it would be a few minutes before I could purchase the gas because it was shift change. I became irrate, advised her to turn the friggin pump on, she did, I pumped my gas and left.
.......at least though, I can buy my eggs if need be at either one of these establishments....as long as it isn't shift change....
Have a great Thanksgiving everyone, and thanks for the comments.........

Inquiring minds want to know

Well here I am at work, it's quiet today...so far. I was talking to my girl friend last night, we had a birthday party for her, she just turned...Well it's not nice to give away a lady's age, so I'll pass on that one. Anyway we were talking about my interests. She lives in North Syracuse, and they have a business development debate going on in the Syracuse area. It's quite complicated and diverse. The project is called Destiny USA. A guy named Robert Congel wants to build this huge mall/entertainment/indoor amusement part on land adjacent to the carousel Mall. It's alledged that it was supposed to have had a ground breaking back in '03, and since then nothing much has happened, except heated debate about if it will take place or not.
Now in my opinion I think something like this would be good for ANY area in New York State given the current condition of our economy. However there are those in the Syracuse area that say the only thing Congel is looking for is another tax break for the carousel, those people are considered the NAYSAYERS, then we have the pro-Destiny crew who say that these things take time, and everything Congel has done up until now is so that when the project comes to fruition, he can give back to the CNY(central new york) area in a big way.
After all why wouldn't a guy who lives here and has raised his family here want to give back to the community.
Well.......I've read at least 2 different news articles about indoor splash(water) theme parks in the Northeast, both have recently been built and are up and operating. One is at the Six Flags Great Escape near Lake George, and the other(the actual name of the park escapes me at the moment) is located near Erie Pa. I also understand they are quite successful and do attract some pretty good crowds. So if Mr. Congel gets his act together, the mall expanding called Destiny USA just might give the CNY area a leg up on things. So I guess it's a wait and see deal as to what happens with the Destiny USA project.

Hey L8tr everyone

I guess I should intro myself

...Well, everyone is probably wondering about me....ya like anyone reads this blog....OH HELL YA! At any rate I'll share a little bit about myself......I'm 50...years old that is. I was a cop for twenty years, did a little bit of everything. I was a patrol cop, a detective, and an undercover narcotics officer for awhile.....then I retired(thank god) with my health and all my faculties, although some people might dispute the "all my faculties" part.
I ride a Harley-Davidson motorcycle......A lot.....And I believe in the right to freedom and not having people interfere with my so called"pursuit of liberty". Alluding to my opinion that the government has to much power to insert itself into our private affairs at their will, and my objections to it.
I worked for the government, not just the locals but also with the federals, and believe me I've seen both governments change the rules in the blink of an eye, especially when they think there will be adverse repercussions from the public , the press, or both. I've seen good cops left swinging in the breeze by their shirt tails, and I've seen bad cops protected by administrations thinking that protecting the bad guys they are holding their cards close to their chest. No one will know about the bad guy because they won't tell anyone...Ya right!!!.
I've seen elected public servants attempt to do the best they can with what they have to work with, in the process having to make unfavorable decisions and get totally decimated by the popular press and other politicians.... then we have the politicos that pontificate about all they do and they are flashes of lightening and no boom.

I look at the present government in power. I read all the online news services. I wonder what is true, how much is substantiated and try to form an opinion about what exactly is going on and whom or who did what about this one and that one. It can actually get very confusing, sometimes I need a day planner to write what days things happened so I can keep a chronological order of the events. Then someone will throw a monkey wrench into the works and the timeline of who disclosed what first is objectionable.
I try to keep events in my life in perspective, I will only opine about what I know and what I read and believe to be true. I think that my life today is truly spectacular. We are living in a time that will be a trying for the American people. I feel that our nation will succeed, and will prosper again. I also believe that we as Americans all have to change our way of doing things, and the interaction of our government with other governments needs to change.
Anyway, again these are my opinions and the way I feel about certain aspects of my life and as it pertains to our society today....
Hey anyone who reads this I hope you and yours has a great Thanksgiving holiday if you celebrate it, if not....Live long and prosper........

My first entry

....Ok this is my first entry here on this blog. New to this so bear with me. I have with some interest been following the plight of our President. I'm a true non believer in the efficiency of the government. I'm also a former employee of a local government. I know how dysfunctional that piece of government was, so I can imagine the dysfunction in our national government.
So I guess I'll start with the Valerie Plame debacle, fiasco, or as the press has dubbed it...Her "outing" as an undercover CIA field operative. Don't get me wrong, I think the disclosure of her status as an undiscovered officer in our leading security/spy agency was a horrible thing to do. I'm sure it has tainted her job as an agent and may have far reaching consequences for people she has worked with in certain endeavors, lets just hope none of the consequences are fatalities.
The Republicans are fighting back now against what the Dems are saying about the being mislead to war, Bush and Cheney have both alledged that what the Dems are doing is irresponsible and reprehensible....Undermining our troops and the security of the United States.
It seems to me that the "outing" of an undercover CIA operative, during a period of war, against fundamentalist Islamic factions, is some what of a security breech, and possibly a source of undermining what our troops are involved in the recent battles with the insurgency in Iraq.
I think maybe the Dems are forcing the point to the ridiculous, although I agree something needs to change. I don't have any experience or the knowledge to run a country's inner sanctum government. I do know what this nation is going through right now is demoralzing, and it needs to stop. The lives of some 180,000 troops in a foriegn land are at stake. They need our support and every bit of logistical help available to them. The infighting going on will tear this nation to shreds and give the Islamic fundementalists the fissures they need to subdivide our nation, and set up another devastating attack.
....or maybe I'm just paranoid.....
myspelling and grammar is probably off s I haven't had anytime to edit this entry, you should be able to get the jist of what I'm trying to say though......Thanks, Chris.
